New Alzheimer’s National Plan Is Out for Comment

There is an update to the National Plan for Alzheimer’s and related dementias, and the government wants feedback. Read on.
HHS and the National Alzheimer’s Project Act (NAPA) updated the National Plan for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias with a new framework organized around federal efforts tackling four goals:
Promote Dementia Risk Reduction Across the Lifespan.
Accelerate Discovery and Innovation to Prevent and Treat Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias.
Advance High-Value Dementia Care Across the Care Journey.
Strengthen Evidence-Based Services and Supports for People Living with Dementia and Their Families.
National Plan 2026 Update
The 2026 Update uses a shorter, more accessible format to highlight major federal accomplishments in 2026 and priority activities planned for 2027, HHS said.
To inform the 2026 Update, HHS said it provided opportunities for public input through listening sessions and a Request for Information. These opportunities invited input from people living with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, family members, caregivers and care partners, researchers, clinicians, service providers, advocates, policymakers, and other interested stakeholders to help inform the update to the National Plan.
NAPA and the Advisory Council invite the public to submit comments on the Advisory meetings, NAPA and its National Plans, or issues involving Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias. Emails can be sent to napa@hhs.gov which will be shared with the Advisory Council.
